All I Want for Mother’s Day is to be Naked in Peace.

I am NOT very pleased with the person who taught my youngest to jimmy locked doors.

I am particularly perturbed at that person when I’m in the shower and I never hear the door open – just the whoosh of my pink-on-pink shower curtain before the icy breeze grabs at my exposed body parts (for some reason, I can never remember to turn on the heating lamps).

“Whatcha doin’, Mommy? Can you make me some more chocolate milk?” My three year old’s big blue eyes blink as if she thinks I really am doing nothing.

“I will do it as soon as I get out of the shower, OK Fluffy-Butt?”

She shuffles out, and, as always, leaves the door ajar.

  1. Hope you get your Mother’s Day wish(es).

  2. This was hilarious. Sounds like my household.

  3. Hehe – isn’t it great when the doorknobs are no longer a natural deterrent to the little ones? I had many of these moments when my children were younger.. I hope you get your Mother’s Day wish!

  4. Hahaha, that’s funny! As a dad I didn’t get this *quite* as much as their mom, but it did happen on occasion, and still does on the weekends they’re with me!

  5. Such clear, soap-in-my eyes memories this brings back.

  6. But if I do manage to take an entire shower without interruption, I panic in the middle wondering what is going on in the rest of the house to keep the boys so occupied and never enjoy the last bit as much.

  7. humorous version of this topic!

  8. When I read the title of this post, I immediately thought – go to San Francisco! 🙂

  9. I have four children. I feel your pain. And I have to wear pants 24/7 now.

  10. Sounds a lot like my 4 year old grandson who we look after one day a week. He loves surprising us in the shower and there’s no such thing as privacy anywhere.

  11. Fluffybutt? :). Mine are 15 and 20, no longer have that issue, t once walked out on the back deck of their moms house looking for them and saw my oldest naked in the hot tub!!! did NOT need to see that…

  12. Kids are great! I have given up on any privacy.

  13. Good luck! 🙂 And happy Mother’s Day!

  14. Ahh…I so can relate to this

  15. Awkward moments…life if full of them! 🙂

  16. Reblogged this on ulearn2bu and commented:
    For all you Mums …

  17. I remember those days! They will be gone in a flash, and you will eventually be able to shower in peace again. I really enjoyed your post. Happy Mother’s Day! 🙂

  18. Ah yes, the air-conditioned shower, such fun. It even happens to not-really-related babysitters. One day, my partner, his daughter, her two girlies, and the dog all wandered in and out before I could finish washing my hair. And of course, the lock has to be disabled to forestall other disasters. “Come on sweetie, just turn the little latch back the other way now, like a big girl; you don’t want to miss the ice cream treat now, do you?” I got away with that one once — then promptly pulled the lockset. And it’s staying out, until the younger one’s at least ten.

  19. Cuteness to the max! Thanks so much for your follow at my blog.

  20. However, as you become a Grandmother it’s really cute when a naked young person wanders into the shower and says ‘Can I shower with you Nana?’… But I guess with 5 children you really need some peaceful time! thanks for deciding to follow my blog – 🙂 I hope the sunshine makes up for the air-conditioned shower!

  21. Ahhh this brings back so many memories.

  22. The title got my attention!

  23. Ah yes, privacy! You do kind of get it back when the kids grow up. I say “kind of” because if you have a dog or cat privacy is a moot point, however, at least they can’t blab about what they see.
    Blessings,
    Mollie

  24. Amusing post – Mother’s Day here is May 27th. Thanks for following my blog, too.

  25. My mom used to take a bath with the door wide open but the lights off. We never found her.

  26. I apologize for taking so long to welcome aboard my blog. Welcome aboard and I hope I don’t let you down. I mostly just post photos and very little verbiage.

  27. I love your writing style and totally understand the need to be alone with your nakedness. 🙂

  28. Boy did this bring back memories! Thanks for laugh. These days it’s not kids but dogs that seem to nose the doors open and ask for their treats. Good times.
